Answers, without the wait
Short answers to the questions we hear most, grouped by who is asking.
For customers
What does it cost to use Sortedhey?
Browsing and requesting a quote is free. We charge a platform fee on completed jobs. The exact fee is still being finalised, and our pricing page shows where things stand.
How do I know a tradesperson is trustworthy?
Every provider has a public profile with ratings and reviews from completed jobs. Providers whose profiles our team has approved carry a Verified badge. It is not an identity or background check, so read the reviews too.
How is the price worked out?
Providers show a starting price and a call-out fee up front. Once you describe the job they send a quote, and you agree it before any work begins.
What if something goes wrong?
Message your provider through the app first. If you cannot resolve it, our support team steps in. We are finalising the full resolution process and will set it out in our terms.
Which areas do you cover?
We are starting in Cape Town and growing from there. The services pages show which suburbs have providers today.
For tradespeople
How do I receive job offers?
Once your profile is approved and you have chosen your trades and areas, offers near you appear live in the app.
How do I send a quote?
Open the job, build the quote from your price book and send it. The customer accepts it in the app.
How does the parts scanner work?
Scan a barcode with your phone camera to add a part and its price to a quote or to your price book.
When do I get paid?
Invoices and payments are tracked in the app. We are finalising payment timing and will publish it before launch.
For business
Can I manage several properties?
Yes. The business portal is built for portfolios, with jobs, approvals and invoices grouped by property.
Can I set spending limits?
Yes. Set approval limits and budgets so larger jobs need sign-off before they are booked.
How do I get a business account?
Contact us with a few details about your portfolio and we will set you up.
For developers
How do I get an API key?
Create one in your business account and keep it on your server. Send it as a bearer token in the Authorization header. Our developers page has a worked example.
How are webhooks secured?
We sign every delivery using the open Standard Webhooks specification. You verify the signature with a maintained library before trusting the payload, and the timestamp lets you reject replays.
Which systems can I connect?
Zapier, Make, n8n and Activepieces work today through our OpenAPI description and webhooks, and anything that can call an API can connect directly. Native Xero, QuickBooks, HubSpot and Salesforce connectors are planned.
Is there a sandbox?
You can try the platform in demo mode, which uses a fixed code and sandbox payments. A dedicated sandbox for developers is planned.
